About Us

 John Reed  B.Pharm.

John completed his Pharmacy degree at Sydney University and worked at various locations in SA and NSW.
Experiences on his travels to the UK and Europe led John to undertake studies in Anthroposophy at Emerson College in the UK and later to work at the Ita Wegman Clinic in Arlesheim,Switzerland.
Here he gained the knowledge, understanding and skills to prepare medicines by hand, according to Anthroposophical principles.
On returning to Australia, John established himself at Pennant Hills Pharmacy in Sydney, where he has dispensed conventional medicines to the local community and prepared and dispensed Anthroposophical and Homoeopathic medicines, creams etc to local, national and international customers for the past 25 years.
John, his wife Kate and their son Thomas have now moved to Cygnet,Tasmania, an area becoming known for its Artisan Producers.
At the new premises of Southern Swan, John will continue his 'artisan' pharmaceutical work, focusing his skills and energy on the preparation of Anthroposophical and Homoeopathic medicines... "hand -made in small batches". 

Kate Reed B.App.Sc.OT

Kate completed her degree in Occupational Therapy at the Cumberland College campus of Sydney University. She worked in a range of organisations in WA and NSW, primarily in the areas of adult rehabilitation and aged care.
Kate embraced the opportunity to return to retail Pharmacy - a familiar and rewarding workplace. (Kate's first job was at Unwin's Pharmacy,Croydon NSW working for her Pharmacist dad)
For the past 20 years,Kate has assisted John with the harvests and preparation of medicines and creams etc and dispensing of the medicines.
She has applied her organisational skills to maintain an annually updated comprehensive listing of all the preparations, and has developed a sound knowledge of the products through private study and personal use of the medicines.
With her OT background and life experience as a mother of four, Kate brings a practical 
understanding and empathetic approach to the business of assisting customers with their enquiries and orders.
A wholistic approach to achieving good health and happiness is her passion.
